After 1980, when the two appeared on Broadway in a calamitous flop, she continued to appear in less prestigious movies and on TV until 1994. Van Devere became a stage actress under the tutelage of Scott.

1976

During the rest of the decade, they co-starred in the TV movie, Beauty and the Beast (1976), Movie Movie (1978), and The Changeling (1980) (1980), a period that coincided with the decline of Scott's stardom and critical reputation.

She made her Broadway debut in 1975 in a revival of Eugene O'Neill's "All God's Chillun Got Wings", directed by her husband. She also co-starred with him on the Great White Way in "Sly Fox", a retelling of Ben Jonson's "Volpone", that was a great hit.
