1997

After first performing as a choral singer in various school plays and productions, Ronnie was singled out at various stages for his singing abilities, earning him lead soprano in several church and school choir groups before eventually being hand-selected to perform as part of the 14-member children's chorus in the 1997 Wexford Festival Opera performance of Ottorino Respighi's 'La Fiamma'. Ronnie harboured a love for writing from a very early age and intended to attempt to combine screenwriting with his compositional work. However, after his secondary school cancelled its music classes due to lack of funding, he decided to get grips with the film side of things first, moving to the UK to study for his Bachelor's Degree in Film at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth. Aside from his musical work, Ronnie took screenwriting and radio drama in his second and third years, majoring in both. He later began studying music privately with Spanish clarinetist Mari Carmen Garzás and Australian cellist Linda Weddell. During his first semester at university, British director James Eaves handed Ronnie an opportunity to write an original score to Amber Pictures' horror science fiction film, 'Bane'. The score was a dense mix of electronic experimentation and live cello. Since then, Ronnie has gone on to score nearly thirty projects, including writing music for Tom Marshall's quirky, dark comedy 'Happy Clapper', Joe Ripple's thriller trilogy 'Sealed Fates' and Pablo Zanon's romantic drama 'The Sound of Silence'.
