The director himself arrived on board 16 March 1991 with film in hand, and presented the movie personally. After leaving to publish his Navy biography, Military Secret (listed at Harvard and US Naval Academy and Naval War College libraries), he got invited to meet Milius at the Tara mansion office of the Oscar winning writer of Apocalypse Now, saw a picture of Milius and his Navy ship Captain on the wall behind the door, and completely forgot to tell Milius he had written the letter that caused that photo op to happen. To this day Milius still does not know.
