Stonie's Major League Eating debut was at the Stockton Deep Fried Asparagus Championship in Stockton, California in 2011. At the time, he was the youngest member of the Major League Eating organization, being 18 years old. His first win came in 2010 in a lobster roll eating contest in Hampton Beach, New Hampshire.

Stonie uploaded his first YouTube video on June 21, 2010, in which he eats a 6 lb pizza in 18 minutes and 5 seconds. His most popular videos have been noticed by well-known celebrities such as Bam Margera, Waka Flocka Flame, and Cheech & Chong, who have featured the videos on their websites. As of September 2019, he has over 10 million subscribers on his YouTube channel. Stonie's YouTube videos have amassed more than 2 billion views, with his most viewed video having been viewed over 72 million times.

Matthew Kai "Megatoad" Stonie (born May 24, 1992) is an American competitive eater and YouTuber. He is the number three ranked competitive eater in Major League Eating. Stonie won the 2015 Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest, dethroning 8-time defending champion Joey Chestnut; however he lost the title the following year. He has gained fame from his YouTube channel, to which he uploads the video footage of his eating challenges.

Stonie was born on May 24, 1992, in San Jose, California. He is of Japanese, Czechoslovakian, and Lithuanian ancestry. He graduated from Evergreen Valley High School in San Jose, California. He weighs 130 pounds (59 kg) and is 5 ft 8 in (1.73 m) tall. His nickname, "Megatoad," is from the character Toad from the Super Mario franchise. Stonie has a younger brother named Morgan Stonie, who is oftentimes involved with the production of his challenges uploaded to his YouTube channel.
