Before his modelling debut, he worked at a big cante/beer garden in Takasaki store at Takashimaya. He is often mistaken for Yuji from his appearance and character similarity. In 2015 they both guest appeared in Tetsuko no Heya.

On 20 January 2010, he also debuted as singer with unit "Naoki Umeda featuring Joy" with MensEGG model Naoki Umeda. He was later hospitalised with pulmonary tuberculosis in March 2011. He was suspended because of medical treatment, but announced on his official blog that he left the hospital on 13 June. On the 29th of the same month, his first "crown programme" Joynt! (Gunma Television) started. From his previous experience of fighting diseases in 2011, he was appointed "Stop TB Partnership Japan Ambassador". From 2015 he made regular appearances on Go Go! Smile! (CBC Television). As of 1 April 2016, he transferred his office to Grick from Bennu. In February 2017, he won in the programme plan "Second Generation Sunshine Saito Grand Prix" of Downtown no Gaki no Tsukai ya Arahende!!

While at the Okayama University of Science High School (communication system), he was introduced by his older sister Sophia which triggered his model activities at the magazine MensEGG ("Spring and Summer College Students White Book" corner in June 2003). Appeared as a member of MensEGG models at the planning "Who is Your Husband!?" in the variety show Shabekuri 007 of Nippon TV appearing with Tsubasa Masuwaka on February 2009.

Joy (stylised as JOY, born 15 April 1985) is a Japanese male fashion model, variety television personality, commentator, singer, and chairperson. His real name is Joseph Greenwood (ジョゼフ・グリーンウッド , Jozefu Gurīn'uddo) . He is represented with Grick, and he's currently the only male to be represented by this agency.
