Evan attends Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University where he majors in Film and Media Theory. As a student, Evan has taken a multitude of film related courses in the areas of critical study, production and business studying under award-winning filmmaker, Paul Harrill, and Past President of the Society for Cinema and Media Studies, Stephen Prince. It was in these courses that Evan directed and produced such films as Doppelganger, winner of Best Sound Design and Best Editing at the Progeny Film Festival in 2009. As far back as high school, Evan has been recognized for outstanding achievement in film, winning 3rd place for his historical documentary at the National History Day competition. At Chantilly, he was also the lead audio coordinator for the school's choral program, gaining invaluable experience of performing under a live setting and tremendous pressure. For two semesters in college, Evan served as a film critic and features reporter for the student-run newspaper The Collegiate Times. Evan also minors in Philosophy and Creative Writing at Virginia Tech.
