Since starting his acting career in 2010, Derrick has appeared in productions such as "Creed", "Man On A Ledge", "Where Hearts Lie, and "CStreet". He has studied under Sara Mornell, Tracey Moore, Constance Tillotson, Amanda Lynch and the late Dustin Felder.

He performed for the New Jersey Nets Drumline in 2004. Derrick also taught many percussion programs in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania including Rapidfire Indoor Percussion.

He then joined The Bushwackers Drum and Bugle Corps in 1998 as a snare drummer and was there until 2006.

In 1991, Derrick joined the Spirit of Newark Drum and Bugle Corps as a charter member until 1997 and returned as a conductor in 2000.

Derrick Todd Lewis is an actor, recording artist and songwriter. Both of his parents were in the entertainment industry. His mother Valerie (Scott) Lewis was the lead singer for Rhythm and Blues group "The Pretenders" in the late 1960s and his father, the late Billy Lewis was a member of "The Drifters" from 1975 until the late 1980s. Derrick grew up in Newark, New Jersey and has 6 siblings. Derrick's interest in acting began at the age of 4 when he saw the film "Mommie Dearest" starring Faye Dunaway. He performed in his first school play at 6 years old in "Snow White" as one of the seven dwarfs "Bashful". From there Derrick would always be a part of school plays during his elementary school years.
