In 2002, following a serious neck injury sustained in a match with Hardcore Holly, doctors informed him that if he continued to wrestle it could lead to paralysis. This resulted in Page taking a two-year hiatus from professional wrestling. Nevertheless, he returned to the ring during a brief stint with upcoming wrestling promotion TNA in 2004 but would retire permanently in June 2005.
