The Texas Rangers will pay $67 million of the $179 million left on his $252 million contract. The Yankees will pay $112 million plus $4 million after his contract expires in 2011. The $36 million in deferred salary owed by Texas will be converted to an assignment bonus, guaranteeing it against a strike or lockout.
