In 2020 during the Covid-19 quarantine period Matar decided to release her "Wahidi", directed by director Valentina El khawand. The song was very popular across Lebanon, the Arab world, and Australia. For this, "Wahidi" achieved number 1 in Lebanon, Jordan, Palestine and Australia, in addition to numerous chart toppings in more than 7 countries in the MENA region, just couple of days after its launch.The secret behind this huge success and what sets May apart from most local performers is not only her singing talent and captivating stage presence, but her versatility as an artist, in addition to playing several musical instruments professionally.

2019

Beside May Matar’s musical, artistic skills, she found herself in the sports field, especially in the Squash game, to turn on being officially an athletic woman and a member of the Squash Federation in Lebanon. Matar participated in several local and international competitions and in 2019 she won multiple of awards; Lebanese Championship of Squash and Bahrain National Championship of Squash.

2018

In 2018, after she lost her husband, May performed a live concert at Gemmayze, where she released for the first time her live recorded album Kel shi bi zakerni fik, on Anghami. All the proceeds of this concert were donated to Kids First Association. After taking a five-year break from shooting videoclips, Matar made her comeback by publishing her leading single " w Yawm", directed by Elie Berbary, in which it reached the Top 5.

2018–2020 Step by step May is finding her place in the crowded Arab music scene and is imposing herself as an artist to be accounted for. In 2018, May held her first concert in Gemmayzeh. This concert was special, not only because it was her first, but because it was in memory of her husband that had passed a year earlier in 2017. She released her album “Kel Shi B Zakerni Fik” for the first time, which became an exclusive live album on Anghami. All the proceeds of the concert went to Kids First Association. Later in 2019, one week before her second concert, May released her leading song “Blahza w Yawm” in audio. At her concert in Jdeideh, and after taking a five-year break from shooting video clips, Matar made a huge comeback by officially releasing the music clip of the single exclusively which attained to the top 5 . Later in the month of May, during the covid-19 lockdown period, May decided to release her smash-hit "Wahidi", that was specifically released on 6 May, in memory of her last road trip with George, her husband. As for the clip, it was directed by the creative Valentina Khawand, who adopted it for her first time in the field of filming clips. It was a mix in between simplicity and professionalism. Especially that Valentina chose to shoot in one shot video clip using a camera within an old style dating back to the 1960s. This mix made it easy for this hit to touch the hearts of millions all over Lebanon, the Arab world, reaching Australia. For this, "Wahidi" achieved the Top 1 in Lebanon, Jordan, Palestine, Morocco Syria and Australia in addition to numerous chart toppings, Top 5 in Algeria and Top 12 in the United Arab Emirates. "Wahidi" hit in more than 7 countries in the MENA region and 1 Country in Oceania, just couple of days after its release. .

2010

2010–2018 In 2010, amidst a crowd of press, media, and close associates, the artist May Matar released in a first and exclusive presentation “Metlak mech 3ayzin” during which May responded to many press questions about the content of the song. She expressed great interest in the comments received about the idea and the content of the clip which was directed by Ziad Najjar. The idea of the clip is simple and modern. It mimics the viewer and addresses his mind in a flexible and purposeful way. In this video clip, we can see the idea of a woman moving in several places of life. Including the rigid tree that man takes care of. So this does not make her vulnerable to clothing and damage, or it is, for example, a picture hanging on the wall or a doll that aims only to draw attention and adornment. In other places, such as an educated businesswoman or a truck driver who crosses the road and dances with the hip-hop young men and women grafted into the Lebanese net. This song won the Best Social Song and Video Clip Award. The following year, May focused on her business. She founded her company “Global Media Masters”, which provide all kinds of online and social media marketing, promoting products, companies, and people. It creates websites and also has a professional team of directors, producers and photographers for the creation of advertisements. In 2015, May performed the theme song “Layali 7azini” for the Lebanese Arabic series “Solo El Layl El 7azin” that was broadcast on the Lebanese Broadcasting Company International (LBCI).Two years later, the Lebanese singer Brigitte Yaghi released her song “Bestahel” that was the first song written and composed by May for another artist than herself.

2006–2009 In early 2006, Matar officially started thinking about her future career in music. After seeing her great excitement, her father decided to guide her through this career by offering her a private special production. On 8 October 2007, “El Kawan Zghir” was May’s birthday gift from her father. It was her first debut single, written and composed by Elie Zgheib. Because of this song, not only did May gain a firm affirmation of her talent, but also an award from the Bielourussia Academy who recongized her as the most promising new coming artist of the year. Her second single "Eh Gharali" reached Melody's top 20. This song took the Lebanese night scene by storm and for the first time, shed the light on May's song writing and composing talent. The video, who featured the Lebanese actor Majdi Mashmoushi, is still frequently broadcast up till today and in high rankings on Arab TV stations. Shortly after its release in summer, May's third single and music clip “Ma Fi Hada” landed number one on Lebanese charts. The song is a romantic ballad written by Nizar Francis and composed by Samir Sfeir. The video was directed by Bassem Moghniye and May herself. May Matar (Arabic: مي مطر; born 8 October 1987) is an Arabic singer-songwriter/composer and director. Matar was born in Kfaraakka in northern Lebanon. Her debut single and music clip, "El Kawn Zghir" was released in 2007 and was an award winner from the Belorussian Academy who portrayed her as the most promising rising artist of year 2008. May released in 2008 her second hit "Eh Gharali", which she wrote, composed and recorded. The song was critically well received and surpassed the success of her debut, topping the charts in Melody's Top 20. The success of these 2 singles gave May the motivation to form new collaborations and continue releasing on a yearly basis. "Ma fi Hada", written by Nizar Francis – composed by Samir Sfeir was released in 2009, it succeeded in reaching number one. The following year, she released Metlak Mesh Ayzin, directed by Ziad Najjar. This song won the Best Social Song and Video Clip Award.

May Matar was born into a Lebanese family on 8 October 1987 in North Lebanon, (Kfaraakka – Koura). She is the eldest child of Maurice Matar and Zeina Sarraf. She only has one sibling, Salim Matar. On 7 September 2013 after a long relationship together, Matar married former Basketball player at Homenetmen Beirut B.C. George Badawi. They have a successful duo-song “Osetna” that was played on their first dance at their wedding. On 19 January 2016 Matar gave birth to her twins Giorgio and Giovanni. During the same year, she released a song for her boys called “Alba Lal Mama”. This song was shot spontaneously at May & George’s residence, where the small Badawi family appeared together at home. On 8 May 2017, Matar lost her husband George due to a sudden pulmonary embolism. Her husband’s death was made headlines all over Lebanon and was a shocking tragedy for his family, friends, colleagues, and basketball fans..

1987–2005 May Matar, a unique voice, genuine talent, and a charming personality. Matar lived her first 18 years in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia where her father worked. At the age of 6, May’s family encouraged her to start finding where she belongs. May started attending private piano and keyboard lessons since she was eager to learn more and wanted to improve her skills as well. Three years later, at the of 9, after grasping the piano basics, May discovered two new talents that fit well in her musical experience, which were song writing and composing. From the age of 14, the teenage dreamer formed an oriental band “AMA” consisting of 3 members. It was far before her professional debut as an artist that she was getting people talking. This band was well-known in the KSA for setting crowds on fire in local restaurants and events. Three years later, May ended AMA’s work and started planning on leaving KSA to proceed with her university degree in her homeland, Lebanon.
