On 18 November 2010, Mayo decided to join his local side Newhaven where he scored 2 goals on his debut in a 4-2 win over Pease Pottage

2009

Due to a Hip injury, it was announced on 12 May 2009, that Mayo would be leaving Brighton after the expiry of his contract at the end of June 2009. During his 14 years at Brighton, Mayo played in 413 league & cup games and scored 14 goals. On 14 July 2009, Mayo announced his retirement from professional football after failing to recover from a groin/hip injury.

2008

On 6 May 2008, it was confirmed that Mayo, along with experienced trio Guy Butters, Gary Hart and Paul Reid had been released from the club by then manager Dean Wilkins. Hart and Mayo signed new contracts after impressing during pre-season under new manager Micky Adams.

In September 2008 Mayo joined Conference National team Lewes on loan for a month. Mayo returned to Brighton on 10 October after suffering cruciate knee ligament damage
