He began self publishing in 1985 with David de Vries, Glenn Lumsden and Tad Pietrzykowski under the Cyclone Comics imprint. He has collaborated with Ashley Wood, Ben Templesmith, Kurt Busiek, Stephen Jewell and Tim Byrd. He is the writer/artist of Will Eisner's John Law, Robert E. Howard's comedy western character, Breckinridge Elkins, Red Kelso, The Jackaroo, Flash Damingo, The Undertaker Morton Stone (with Ashley Wood and Ben Templesmith) and "Planet of the Apes: Urchak's Folly" (with Dillon Naylor and Greg Gates). He has also worked for Marvel Comics, DC Comics and Dark Horse Comics in the United States.
