He is the Member of Parliament for the Tanjong Malim federal constituency. He was the Perak State Legislative Assemblyman for Teja for two terms from 2008 to 2018. He is a member of the People's Justice Party (PKR), a component party of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition.
