In 2003, he formed Red Jacket Productions. His first project as a producer, titled "The Last Race", resurrected the love story between James Dean and Pier Angeli. He left his homeland at the age of nine to attend various boarding schools in the United States, living in Florida, Connecticut and California before attending college in Massachusetts and moving to New York to pursue his acting career. After arriving in Los Angeles in 2002, Cal began writing. His first screenplay, "Rubi", led to a collaboration with producers Sergio Aguero and Lynnette Ramirez on the romantic comedy "Lover's Block". Cal was then hired to adapt the French film "Dis-moi oui" for the American market.
