C R Patil joined the Surat police in 1975 as a police constable. Mr. Patil joined the BJP in 1990. In four short years, with his diligent work he became the Surat District President. But political motives couldn't leave him out of the mean olives of defaming him. In 2002, the Crime Branch arrested Mr. Patil as the chief defaulter in the Diamond Jubilee Cooperative Bank scam. He had taken a loan of more than Rs 540 million from the cooperative bank and did not repay the amount causing the bank to be suspended from the clearing house in 2002. He had to remain in jail for 15 months until he secured bail from the Gujarat High Court on the condition that he would repay the dues. Another concern arose wherein he took 48 acres of land at Sachin to construct 65,000 flats for textile labourers. He made a down payment of Rs 60 million for possession of the GIDC land on lease for 90 years and got delayed to pay the rest. After the re-arrested, Mr. Patil moved the Supreme Court and reimbursed the loan money with interest: Rs 880 million towards the cooperative bank loan of Rs. 460 million and the rest for the GIDC land lease cost. The MP has paid back not only the loans but with more than the interest and had offered to even help further. C R Patil was soon made chairman of the state-owned Gujarat Alkalies and Chemicals Ltd. Mr. Patil has one of the longest affidavits submitted to the Election Commission of India. Conclusively, out of 103 cases 96 has been clearly resolved till 2015.
