Timeline
As of 2020, Barry is the registered CEO for X.Labs, which introduced in a response to the COVID-19 pandemic a solution called "Feevr" which combines FLIR foward looking infra-red camera technology with a smart phone app developed by X.Labs, with the purported claim of being able to pre-screen human for elevated temperatures as part of an overall medical screening process. The claims were analyzed and quickly challenged by security industry news and watchdog site IPVM.com, founded by John Honovich. The challenges included the fact that FLIR specifically excludes medical use for the FLIR Pro One camera that X.Labs resells as part of the Feevr solution. The exclusion is due in part because the FLIR Pro One has insufficient tolerances (+/- 5.4°F) to be used for human fever detection, and that the camera is not approved by the FDA for medical use. As a result of IPVM's story, [FLIR subsequently dissolved its agreement with X.Labs], preventing it from reselling or licensing FLIR cameras.
X.Labs responded by issuing a letter to IPVM demanding retraction, and that IPVM furnish its complete contact list for X.Labs. IPVM retained attorney and [responded with a public refusal] to comply. As of May 7th, 2020, this story is ongoing.
